How Four Little Candles Light the Way to Jesus’ Birth
Lighting the Advent wreath in our family was always a tug-of-war — and a few wax injuries later, I got a candle snuffer. Because Jesus is the Light of the World, we light these little flames… no matter who gets splattered!
The wreath, rooted in Northern Europe, symbolizes hope in winter. Today, it’s a cherished tradition in homes and churches alike.

🌲 Evergreens – Everlasting life
🕯️ Candles – Four weeks: Hope, Peace, Joy (rose), Love
“A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.” — St. Francis of Assisi
Let your Advent wreath light hearts, one flame at a time.
An Advent wreath is a circular arrangement of evergreens with four candles representing Hope, Peace, Joy, and Love, used to visually and prayerfully prepare hearts for Jesus’ coming, reminding us of God’s eternal love and the growing light of Christ each week.
Advent is a season of anticipation and preparation for Jesus’ coming, observed by slowing down, praying, reflecting on Scripture, and embracing small, meaningful family traditions that focus on Christ.
Children can prepare their hearts through hands-on activities like making Jesse Tree ornaments, lighting the Advent wreath, practicing acts of kindness, creating prayer spaces, and singing Advent songs, all of which teach virtue, point to Jesus, and create lasting family memories.
